My Life As It Is!

I began painting around the age of 10 years, when I went to Moa Island in Torres Straights with my mother.
I won a Highly commended in that year when I returned in the children's section of the Hunters Hill Art Show.
I was then taught watercolour paint while in High School on Saturday mornings. I went to East Sydney Tech from 1961 to 1966 and did some sculpture the first year, then I painted there for the next five years. I went to Queensland 1967 to work on a property for seven months, then came back and worked in a factory.
Whilst there we started a group of young artists of many talents, all under the age of 25 years and exhibited our works and designs on an annual basis from 1967 to 1970.
In 1971 I had a chance to visit aboriginal reserves with a reporter and Rev. Alfred Clint in South Australia and the Northern Territory and stayed for approximately a month on a banana plantation at Mission Beach where I assisted with odd jobs and sketched in my free time. When I returned home some of my sketches of the aboriginal people were published in The Sydney Morning Herald.
In 1971 I moved to the family weekender for peace and inspiration. I won a highly commended for a collage of the 3 sisters in the Blackheath Rhododendron Show.
In 1973 I went to Japan
In 1975 I had drawings published in School Magazines
In 1980 I had my first solo show at Sydney University
In 1981 I went to China and Inner Mongolia
My second solo show was in 1983. based on the Chinese teip at Hunters Hill Art gallery.
The to Bali.
In 1987 I had another art show with a potter based on the wild flowers of Shipley.
From then on had group showing once a year until 1994.
In 1995 I came to Gulgong I didn't start painting seriously again until 2000 when wires asked me to paint for the Gulgong Arts Council.
In Janaurary 2001 i had another solo show in the shearing shed at Saneslee, Gulgong, and I won a highly commended at the Mudgee Show in 2003.
In 2006 I presented a history of my own artworks followed by a 5 artist show in 2007. I won some prizes in 2008 Gulgong Spectacular Art & Craft Show.
I have been preparing artwork and photography for the past 6 months for a solo show called "The Drip" in March 2009. The End
